Stuck for a gift? Solution No3: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki or Kawasaki merchandise

After the excesses of KTM and Harley's gifts ranges, Hondas seems tame. But even the sober Japanese firm has a handful of oddities in its line-up.

The Japanese have been accused of imitating in the past, and Honda's incorporation of a baby's dummy in its official accessories catalogue mimics KTM's 'Silencer-System Mini Pro'. But it's a one of the few quirks in an otherwise predictable range of hats, bags, keyrings, umbrellas, belts and pens.

For the truly original biker's Christmas gift, look elsewhere.

Yamaha is a bit wackier when it comes to the gifts section of its catalogue. Who'd have thought that Yamaha-branded flip-flops would have got the green light? Or a Yamaha teddy? However, as you might imagine with the Yamaha name stuck on them, the prices aren't exactly bargain-bin - £9.29 for some flip-flops?

Suzuki is yet another firm to offer a baby's dummy ? what is it about those things? And like Yamaha there's a teddy in its range. But weirdest of all is the B-King Glass Cuboid ? a glass, er, cuboid, with a 3d image of a B-King etched inside. For £55.56. Why?

Guess what Kawasaki has in its accessories range? Yup, a dummy. And a bear. What's more confusing is the firm's 'Kawasaki Cuddle' ? a thing that looks like a donkey wearing riding kit including a helmet. The same character also appears on the company's dining set, which is plastic, incuding the knife and fork, so we're guessing it's for kids. Or perhaps there's just been a sensible decision that people who want a plate, bowl and mug with a Kawasaki-riding donkey printed on them shouldn't be allowed sharp objects.

Official PR: Canard Injury

Torrance, CA: American Honda announced today that Team Honda Muscle Milk rider Trey Canard will miss the opening rounds of the 2012 Supercross Championship after injuring his collarbone in a crash during practice while preparing for the season opener at Anaheim, CA. Canard and the team were making preparations for the upcoming Supercross season when the incident occurred.

?Trey suffered a fracture to his collarbone when he crashed at a team test,? said Team Honda Muscle Milk Manager, Erik Kehoe. ?He underwent surgery and his physicians estimate he will need a recovery time of four weeks at the minimum. It?s very disappointing to see this happen to Trey, especially after all the hard work he?s put in to recuperate from injuries in 2011. He will miss the first few Supercross rounds, but our team will continue our preparations for the upcoming season with Trey?s teammate, Justin Brayton.

Star Wars Replica Motorcycle Suits

Imperial Storm Trooper motorcycle suit

Imperial Storm Trooper motorcycle suit

Following on the heels of their Batman motorcycle suit, UD Replicas has introduced a series of Star Wars replica Empire motorcycle jackets and complete storm trooper motorcycle suits. Whether the force is with you or you ride on the dark side, you can find the appropriate gear.

When you drive a car you can hide inside. With custom paint, an exotic design and dark windows, no one sees you, their attention is drawn to and focused on the car, but motorcycles in motion, no matter how dramatic their appearance, focus a lot of attention on the rider. It's inevitable. If you're one of those shy and retiring types, a motorcycle presents you with a problem, you're on display whenever you ride, so why not embrace it?

Universal Design Ltd. is licensed by the movie studio to create these replica leather jackets and they try to make them look as close to the movie original as possible. Even when the movie version has what looks like all sorts of hard parts, UD Replicas forms the leather to look like the original piece.

Besides the Star Wars series and the Batman suit, they also have Tron replicas, X-Men replicas, and an upcoming Captain America suit.

The jackets look like a quality product and probably perform very well doing everything a motorcycle jacket should with CE approved armor and removable liners, but you're going to need the right person to wear one. The Empire Racing Jacket looks OK, but it takes a certain personality type to ride off looking like an Imperial Storm Trooper and even then, there's probably an upper age limit before even that person will set it aside.

I think if I were going to wear a movie replica jacket, I might go for the one worn by Tom Cruise in Top Gun, but even that is a bit flashy for me. Star Wars, Tron, Batman or Captain America, if that's the real you, now you can show the world whenever you ride.

Roczen and Musquin to race 350cc in USA

Roger De Coster has spoken about World MX2 Champion Ken Roczen and two times World MX2 Champion Marvin Musquin to race the 350cc machine in the weekend they won't be racing the Lites class. Both are schedueled to race in the AMA Lites class in the Supercross series and at the moment it's not decided which coast they will ride, East of West.

With KTM obviously keen to run the 350cc as much as possible and both riders being on the lean side it sounds like the perfect combination. With riders like Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed, Ryan Dungey and Kevin Windham already in the Supercross class it's going to be interesting to see what the two European riders can do in the premier class.

In other news Jeffrey Herlings flew out of USA today and back to his homeland Holland. Interesting what he wrote on his facebook page.

Tomorrow back home after 3 weeks.. USA dude, was fast, but Injuries and Crashes .. The US dream;-)! Damm Supercross! Love it or hate it.. A1 '13?:-D

Like many European riders he might just be wondering about the American Dream.

Watch this space for more news on USA soon.
