Michele Pirro to ride Gresini CRT

MICHELE PIRRO, winner of the final Moto2 race at Valencia, has been confirmed as riding the Gresini Honda CRT machine in 2012.

Continuing their partnership from Moto2 into MotoGP, Pirro will ride the Gresini team's CRT entry, a Honda CBR1000RR engine inside an FTR chassis. The 25-year-old Italian is joining Álvaro Bautista, who will ride a Honda RC213V.

"I?m happy to have made this decision and proud to join the San Carlo Honda Gresini team in this interesting new adventure," said Pirro. "It wasn?t an easy decision to make because of the fact that initially I had wanted to try to improve on the 2011 results I had in Moto2, but the growing confidence that Fausto Gresini had for me at the end of the season left me with no doubt about the choice to take.

"I feel honored to continue to be a part of this fantastic group and to work together with them on this ambitious project that represents the future of MotoGP. I hope to return the confidence they have in me with results and technical contributions to this exciting team."

Team boss, Fausto Gresini added: "We think that for a new project like CRT, the right thing to do was give Michele Pirro an opportunity to further demonstrate his potential. In the final round of the Moto2 World Championship, he certified that he has the technical and competitive qualities and we believe that in this new category of CRT he can be one of the protagonists."

"His victory in Valencia was impressive and memorable; he provided us all enthusiasm and encouraged us to want to be a part of this fascinating adventure. Also, we have keep in mind that we are a Italian team, this is important for us, and the decision to do this project with Michele is also the result of this standpoint."

Team Gresini will also expand their line-up to cover all three of the MotoGP classes, with a Moto3 entry joining the existing MotoGP and Moto2.

Kevin Windham Sparkles in Emerald City, Eli Tomac Gains Big Ground in Lites West

It was good to be a GEICO Honda rider during the 15th round of Supercross in Seattle. Fan favorite Kevin Windham and teammate Eli Tomac both earned runner-up finishes under the Saturday night lights at Qwest Field, Windham on his 450cc ride and Tomac on his 250cc Lites bike.

Windham, who won Seattle last season, always rides well on muddy racetracks and Seattle delivered for him again as rain leading up to the race made it treacherous for many riders.

"I did well because I was able to keep it on two wheels. That was the battle this whole race," Windham said. "The track changed each lap and I was just able to ride it out and keep my GEICO Honda upright."

The veteran rider has been working hard to crack the top five each weekend but has fallen short of a medal finish until this round.

Graham Jarvis has taken victory at the Wildwood Rock Extreme Enduro

From Husaberg

The 36-year-old was in a class of his own during the three-hour main event, riding a Husaberg TE 300 two-stroke to victory against Australia's leading off-road riders.

In a unique event that features a variety of obstacles including rocks, bricks, logs, balancing beams, tyres and dismantled ute trays, Jarvis made light work of the course to take home the $10,000 in prize money for the victory.

"I didn't know what to expect," Jarvis said. "The rain made it more difficult and it is a hard event, but it's a great event. I really hope to come back next year and have another crack at it."

Jarvis won the main event by a full lap in a spectacular display of riding, adding the victory to the Red Bull Sea to Sky Extreme Enduro that he won in Turkey last month.

The Englishman also took victory in almost all other world-class Extreme Enduro events such as Red Bull Romaniacs, Hell's Gate and The Tough One this seasons and will be on his way to South Africa shortly to make his debut at the last big event of the year, the Roof of Africa.

Jarvis had support from Top Gear Husaberg in Seaford, as well as Sunbury Bike Hub, during his stay in Australia.
