Rev Racing announces new Honda Team for 2012

RevHonda Rev Racing announces new Honda Team for 2012

Rev Racing Ltd is pleased to announce that it will be launching an all-new race team in 2012, which will contest all of the main British MX2 championships as well as the youth series? with its three-rider Rev Racing Honda squad next season.

The team, which will run Honda machinery, is aiming to become the stepping-stone between the schoolboy, youth and adult series?, as it offers the opportunity for young riders to really establish themselves in the adult ranks. For next season the team will field 17-year-old Anthony Reville and 19-year-old Tom Kelly in the adult MX2 class, along with Honda Xtreme Academy winner 15-year-old Brad Todd in the 250cc youth series.

Rev Racing already has involvement in youth racing with the Honda Xtreme Academy and team manager Mark Reville is looking forward to developing the squad to make it more easily accessible for young talent to make the jump either onto the bigger bike or into the adult ranks with its experienced staff, and without a huge cost. Mark is passionate about the sport having been involved for over 18-years with various tracks, clubs, as well as many other projects, and is looking forward to this new challenge with an exciting line-up of determined young-guns.

?This is really an exciting time for us at Rev Racing, and I?m motivated by the support we?ve already been offered. Motocross is becoming an increasingly expensive sport, and while the bigger teams need riders with results from the word go, it?s difficult for families to subsidise the cost or know where to get the best help from, as they make the step onto the bigger machines or into the adult ranks. Our plan is to steer young riders from the schoolboy championships onwards, which requires a lot of support both for rider and machine with all of the series? being so competitive.? said Mark.

?I think we have three riders who are all capable of good results, and while we are looking forward to growing as a team, we are also looking to help them find the consistency and progress up through the standings throughout the season. It?s really important to us that the next generation of British talent has something to aim for; particularly those in the Honda Xtreme Academy, which we are involved with at schoolboy level, and that they can see a pathway to a professional future in the sport. With the support of our partners I?m sure we can achieve this over the next few years,? concluded Mark.

With the team?s riders BYMX 85cc big wheel runner-up and Xtreme Academy winner Brad Todd stepping up to CRF250R machinery, as well as Anthony Reville and Tom Kelly, whom both have enjoyed top 10 British MX2 results this season but are not yet classified as contenders in the series, it?s going to be an exciting year to see how the Rev Racing Honda squad progresses in 2012.

Anthony Reville
?I?m really excited to be part of this project, and I?m sure it will be good to work with Tom, as we?ll be pushing each other along throughout the year. The 2011 season has been hard for me with injuries, and although I?ve had a few good results when I?ve been fit, I?ve felt like I?ve been on the back-foot for most of the year, which has been disappointing and frustrating. I?m still having a few problems with the broken tibia from earlier in the year; I?ve recently had more scans with a specialist, which have revealed the bone has healed okay, but there?s a lot of fluid in there, and that?s what is causing me pain when I ride. So, I?ve had some steroid injected into the problem joint and fingers crossed it should heal without surgery. I rode the 2012 bike for the first time on Sunday; in fact it?s the first time I?ve ridden for nearly two months after resting the leg. It was a completely stock bike and I?m impressed with it already. We?ll be developing the bike over the next couple of months along with a heavy training schedule so I?m in the best shape for next year. My aim is to have more consistency and to be closer to that top six week-in, week-out if I can stay injury free. I?m looking forward to it, and I?d like to thank everyone who has continued to support me in the last few years.?

Tom Kelly
?I?m quite excited about joining the team and this new experience. I like the Honda; I?ve been on them for the last two years, so it?s good to be continuing with the same machine. It?s a good bike and I like the approach from Rev Racing, as it sounds like we have a lot of good things in place to help us have a strong year. I hope to be in the points at every race in the season with top 15 finishes and the aim of being closer to the top ten more regularly. I?ve ridden and trained with Anthony quite a bit in the past, and we often find each other in the races, so it will be good for us to work together to push each other on.?

Brad Todd
?To be asked to be part of the Rev Racing Honda team is really great for me. We?ve never had that kind of support before, and to have the guidance from the team is going to be absolutely brilliant. I?m really enjoying riding the 250 already, but the help with suspension, development and to work with Anthony and Tom is really going to help me, as I move up to the youth class. I had some good results this year; finishing runner-up in the BYMX big wheel class and winning the Xtreme Academy Championship, and although I know moving up is going to be tough, my aim is to get at least one overall win and to try for top six in the championship. I can?t wait to get going with everything.?

Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship and NBC Sports Group announce new television distribution partnership for American MX

MX Sports Pro Racing and Alli Sports, a division of the NBC Sports Group have announced that NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network (renamed from VERSUS on Jan. 2) will be the new broadcast home for the 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. The broadcast partnership will feature three live hours on NBC Sports and 21 hours of race programming on the NBC Sports Network, with 11 hours live.

The 2012 AMA motocross season expects to continue the upward trend the series has experienced since MX Sports Pro Racing and Alli Sports became partners in 2009. Since that time, motocross has enjoyed unprecedented growth with fans, and has seen its television audience nearly quadruple in three years. This new partnership comes on the heels of a highly successful 2011 season that reached the largest overall motocross audience through television, digital and on-site viewers in the sport's 40-year history. In 2011 the series saw a 36 percent increase year-over-year in domestic television viewership, along with a 50 percent increase in overall website traffic.

"NBC Sports and the NBC Sports Network are the perfect broadcast partners for the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. We look forward to engaging motocross' strong and devoted fan-base via the various broadcast and digital platforms available through our relationship with Alli Sports. Our work together over the past three years has done a tremendous amount to grow the sport and we're excited to build on it with the expanded television partnership with the NBC Sports Group." said MX Sports Pro Racing President Davey Coombs.

With the move to the NBC Sports Group, Alli Sports will have greater flexibility to offer complete packages to sponsors that include media assets, series sponsorship opportunities, as well as more live hours, better programming windows and the ability to cross-promote the series across various networks and platforms.

"The new television package not only provides new opportunities for our fans, but allows us to better support both our current and future business partners with more robust and flexible sponsorship packages. The Series has seen amazing growth on all levels and the new television package is another big step." said Alli Sports President Wade Martin.

"The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships is a terrific programming property for the NBC Sports Group, particularly due to its popularity in young male demographics," said Rob Simmelkjaer, Senior Vice President at NBC Sports. "It will serve as an important part of our action sports strategy going forward."

The 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship will be broadcast on five continents, in 104 countries.

Clement Desalle Blogs About His Recent Past and His Future

Courtesy of Suzuki, Clement Desalle (Suzuki's top rider in the MX1 FIM World Motocross Championships) talks about his recent past, and what's coming up in the future...

After two operations on my shoulders I am firmly in the process of taking things step-by-step to get back to normal. I am in the position now where the left one feels pretty good and I need to build up some muscle, although the state of the arm is not too bad. The right one is still a bit fragile and I will see the doctor next week; I hope he will be able to tell me I can start doing physical exercise and training without any worries.

I've been pretty busy recently although it does feel like a long time that I haven't been able to ride my Suzuki and I'm losing my patience a little! Andrea and I went on holiday to Tenerife and we had a fun time. Where our hotel was located was not the best for beaches because they are quite stony but we caught some sunshine and I took the chance of being by the pool every day to do some gentle exercises in the water. We went to visit the volcano and did a few touristy things. The holiday was a great time to relax and I ate everything! Normally I have to be a bit careful during the season but this was the moment to unwind and switch off.
